Drop down sorting - HD18443564

Dear Sage Product Team,

I would like to submit a suggestion for consideration in a future Sage Evolution enhancement relating to the sorting of Departments/Branches within report selection screens. This suggestion is based on our investigation under RE: [ HD18443564 ] - Support - Evolution- 1-Enquiry The client says they when they run the Trail Balance and select the department it does not look at the order.

Current Behaviour

Within Sage Evolution, department and branch records are maintained and displayed in alphanumeric order in the maintenance screens. However, when users generate certain reports, such as the General Ledger Trial Balance, the department selection window does not always present the departments in alphanumeric order, making it difficult to locate specific departments quickly.

Business Impact

• Reduced user efficiency when selecting departments from large lists.

• Increased risk of omitting or incorrectly selecting departments.

• Inconsistent user experience between maintenance screens and report selection screens.

• Additional support queries due to uncertainty regarding sorting logic.

Suggested Enhancement

Introduce a consistent sorting mechanism across all report selection screens whereby:

1. Departments and branches are automatically sorted alphabetically/alphanumerically by Code (or alternatively by Description where applicable).

2. Users are provided with an option to sort by:

   • Code

   • Description

3. The selected sorting preference is remembered per user or report.

4. Sorting behaviour remains consistent throughout Evolution, including:

   • Trial Balance Reports

   • General Ledger Reports

   • Accounts Receivable Reports

   • Accounts Payable Reports

   • Any report utilising department or branch selection lists

Expected Benefit

This enhancement would improve usability, reduce report preparation time, and provide a more intuitive and consistent experience across the Sage Evolution platform.
