To Have a second LOT number per item to serve as the suppliers lot number for the item.

Short Description:

We would like to have a second Lot number column with its own expiry date just like the default Serial/Lot number column. Currently this is not possible. We tried using a User Defined Field, but the problem is that it does not provide us with the option to set this field to give us a unique number. This field must not accept duplicates.

Detailed expected outcome:

We would like to have this on the system if possible and the field should function similarly to the existing lot number field. We would like to be able to put in the external lot number from the supplier if for example, we are processing a GRV and also assign a second internal (Sterling) lot number to the same item at the time of receiving.

Reason for request – what is the business process ?

We need to track the movements of our stock using both the external (Supplier) lot number and Sterling (Internal) lot number.

This is because when we move stock (raw materials and finished goods) within departments and warehouses, we use our own lot numbers.
